I have always been fascinated by the intersection between technology, economics, culture, and religion. I wrote Grendels as an outgrowth of my lifelong enjoyment of world building stories, such as Frank Herbert’s Dune series, the Lord of the Rings, and Asimov’s Foundation books, along with my love of character driven sci-fi and fantasy, most often by women writers like Ursula LeGuinn, N.K. Jemisin, Margaret Atwood, Octavia Butler, and Mary Doria Russell.
